There really is nothing like good Indian food. It is totally unique, it’s healthy, it works for all diets, and it’s delicious. The only Indian restaurant that is East of the canal is called Saaz located right off of County Road in Southampton. It’s locally owned and operated and is as authentic as it gets.
Quietly, with almost ZERO advertising, Saaz has become an incredibly important lunch spot for the local community, the reason for it is their unbelievable $20 a person buffet. The restaurant is cool inside, with an elegant vibe and a beautiful bar. The service is excellent, and at lunch time it’s sort of assumed your there for the $20 buffet, but your always welcome to order off the menu. We opted for the buffet though, and let me tell you, it’s fantastic. It’s a complete steal for what you get and the food is sensational. You have options of vegetarian items such as chickpea salad, vegetable soup with lentils and curry, roasted chili potatoes and jasmine rice. All of it absurdly good. There is also of course chicken tikka masala, as well as roasted goat in curry sauce, lamb and a salad bar.
While there, you MUST order that garlic Naan bread, which is baked fresh and is impossibly delicious. You have a lot of options here with this order and it’s worth it to pay the extra $6 for a basket of either their garlic, truffle oil, onion or Kashmirni Naan bread. When we finished our meal, our check’s total was barely $50 without the tip included. You can also go there and do a take out buffet order, which means your given a to go container and you can load it up with whatever you want and head out to the beach.
This restaurant is a great option to shake things up during the week and is also a wonderful, healthy choice for lunch that is suitable for even the strictest of vegans and vegetarians out there. Don’t miss this spot it is a good one!
