I first heard about Lindsey Metselaar from Saunders & Associates real estate agent Nancy Mizrahi who was raving about her. “Who is she?” I asked.
“She’s fabulous. She has a podcast called ‘We Met At Acme’ and she’s out here in the Hamptons. People love her podcast it’s all about dating in New York.”
“Sold.”
Lindsey Metselaar has the kind of story that many people dream about these days. On a whim, she decided to start a podcast, made an episode and uploaded it to the internet. “I didn’t really do anything to promote it. I posted about it to my Instagram, but back then I only had a few thousand followers, but it just caught on,” Lindsey told me over the phone. “Today, it’s what I do full time.”
She now has over 2,000 reviews on Apple Podcasts and the episode names include, “So I Almost Got Divorced 2 Weeks Ago”, “According To This Theory, All Men Cheat ft. Ask Nelly”, and “How I Got Married In 5 Months”.
The podcast is informative and hilarious, and so is Lindsey whose family summers in the Hamptons and who has a standing order at Candy Kitchen. “I have been going there for as long as I can remember, it’s one of my favorite places in the world. When I walk in they already start making my order which of course is grilled cheese and fries.”
Lindsey has nearly 80,000 Instagram followers where she also provides dating advice. Her page offers excellent dating and relationship information and advice. So it’s not just where or what you should do on a date, but also to figure out things like how to know if you’re in a toxic relationship or not, or how to know if it’s time to switch things up with your partner. Even advice on what to do if things between you and your partner seem stale or boring. All of this is presented in a dynamic and modern fashion by the internet celebrity who keeps up with current trends and provides recommendations on products and services related to dating and relationships.
Her website also offers a dating service, however it’s completely sold out.
“So what is Acme? What does that mean?”
“Acme can mean anything and any place. So it’s like on Looney Toons where the devices always came in the Acme Co. boxes. But it can also mean a restaurant or a bar or even the library. The idea is that it identifies where you met on your first date.”
“Okay one last question, I have to ask, who is your go to Hamptons realtor?”
“Without question, hands down, Nancy Mizrahi of Saunders & Associates. She is amazing and has worked with my family for as long as I can remember. I highly, highly recommend her.”
