Live Jazz night, presented by The Jam Session, is hosted every Tuesday night from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Masonic Temple in Sag Harbor. Enjoy some of the best live Jazz on Long Island with new featured artists each week with their fantastic house band accompaniment. Spaces fill quickly, so be sure to arrive when the doors open at 6:30 pm.
The Jam Session brings music to our community in many ways by partnering with accessible venues that serve the public, like the Masonic Club. The Jam Session’s ultimate purpose is to bring these diverse groups together through music and shared public experiences and thus nourish the roots of the community…its people.
Jazz Night’s mission is so important, and it’s inspiring to see the event’s community support. According to the Jam Session, Jazz Night exists to provide…(1) a venue for up-and-coming and professional musicians; (2) a creative and nurturing venue where musicians can practice their craft before a live audience to create a place where musicians can network with other musicians as well as showcase their talent; (3) a place in the community where people of all ages and demographics can enjoy eclectic live music for free or low cost consistently.
I learned about the event from a longtime supporter of Jazz Night. She goes every week with a group of friends and it’s clear there is strong community support for the event. And the artists feed off the crowd’s energy. “We are thrilled to have an event like Jazz Night YEAR-ROUND in Sag Harbor. It keeps the Village energy high and gives me a reason to go out with friends during the week.”
I’ll be the first to admit that my knowledge of Jazz is limited, but that only made the experience even better as I was learning something new. The environment is welcoming and it was great to meet new friends and discover a new appreciation for Jazz!
Can’t make it on Tuesday? You can listen to the shows on the radio every Sunday at 8 pm on WLIW 88.3 FM, “Long Island’s Only NPR Station,” also available on the WLIW website, www.wliw.org/radio

The Club suggests donating $15, with all proceeds going to local charities.
Jazz Night has teamed up with Tapovana to present delicious South Indian offerings at Jazz Night. Dinner is available on a first-come-first-served basis available for $15. One of my favorite parts of the event is that I don’t have to order expensive food – I bring my own! The club encourages the community to pack a picnic-style dinner while listening to the performance.
The Masonic Temple is located at 200 Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY 11963, on the 2nd floor (above the Whaling Museum).
