Artists Alliance of East Hampton (AAEH) is shining the spotlight on several gifted local artists during AAEH’s annual Spring Members Show.
From Saturday, April 28 through Sunday, May 6, over 50 AAEH members will have their works showcased at Ashawagh Hall. The eclectic collection will highlight the varied expertise of the exceptional group – with pieces ranging from sculpture to fine art to photography to mixed media to abstracts to landscapes, and more.
“The Members Show presents a great opportunity for members to show their new collections,” Anahi DeCanio, AAEH Communication Chair, said. “We are excited to have welcomed a good number of new members exhibiting with us for the first time.”
Originally known as the Jimmy Ernst Artists Alliance, the Artists Alliance of East Hampton was founded in 1984 by close friends of the internationally acclaimed abstract painter. The non-profit’s mission is to bolster and back the interests of the East End’s artistic community, which is does by offering networking opportunities for artists, artist lectures and presentations. Artists Alliance of East Hampton also presents community outreach programs – such as high school scholarship programs and art workshops for middle school students. Membership is open to visual artists who reside on the East End.
The Spring Members Show will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, and 11 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. AAEH will host an Opening Reception on Saturday April 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. that is open to the public. Refreshments will be served during the celebratory soiree, which is free to attend.
Additionally, a Plein Aire demonstration – where artists will be painting live on the grounds of Ashawagh – will take place on Wednesday, May 2 at 11 a.m. and new board members will be introduced on Sunday, May 6 during the annual General Meeting, which begins at 2 p.m.
“This year AAEH is having three nine day shows in spring, summer and fall and we have several new initiatives as well as an increased presence in social media platforms,” DeCanio shared. “In the fall, we will also be hosting a self-guided studio tour where visitors can see artists at work.” The summer show will take place Saturday, June 30 through Sunday, July 8 and the fall show will be on display Saturday, September 22 through Sunday, September 30.
Ten percent of sales from the Spring Members Show will be donated to the Springs Food Pantry.
