Looking for whimsical, colorful, boho-inspired fashion? Located in Southampton, Coco Cabana is a newly opened boutique selling one-of-a-kind vintage jewelry, accessories, upcycled items, and more! Hamptons.com spoke with the new shop’s owner/founder, Jillian to find out more about the fresh energy CoCo Cabana is bringing to Southampton Village.
Jillian Diaz, Coco Cabana’s owner, was raised in Brooklyn, where her love for vintage accessories first began. As a child, Jillian quickly grew fond of the Hamptons after years of coming out with her family. After graduating college with a marketing degree, Jillian decided to open up her very first business selling vintage-inspired sterling silver jewelry.Eventually, she would go on to sell her curated collections at Henri Bendel
Jillian’s impressive curated collection of vintage products grew from what originally started as a hobby of going to flea markets and estate sales. Unsure what to do with her always-growing collection, Jillian opened a store in Brooklyn where her passion for curating and collecting vintage fashion continued to grow.
After some time and needing change, Jillian closed her store in Brooklyn and pivoted back to the original source of her vintage passion, this time she would be the one selling at flea markets and vintage shows nationwide.
Once the pandemic hit, Jillian continued her business online but was unsatisfied, as she deeply missed being able to interact with her customers. So, as soon as the world began to open up again, Jillian spontaneously decided to call a realtor in the Hamptons, where she found her current space in Southampton.
Even after being told that her store was “not going to last” and was “too Sag Harbor,” (whatever that means!) A true entrepreneur, Jillian went with her gut, excited to be among the first vintage clothing stores in Southampton. After checking out the chic new shop—we’re excited too!
While many would argue that the town of Southampton has a reputation for catering to older generations, Jillian disagrees, saying, “Southampton is really changing; there’s this new young and trendy boom happening that wasn’t out here before.” We agree and love seeing vintage clothes ushering in a youthful wave in Southampton!
