“Only the Timeless,” Remembering Iconic Hamptons Architect Myron Goldfinger

Myron Goldfinger, renowned modernist architect, passed away this Summer at 90. Gaining prominence, especially in the Hamptons, for designing weekend escapes and monumental modern estates. Still highly sought-after today, the Goldfinger-designed estate at 43 Sandune Court, Sagaponack, hallmarks and honors the architect’s innumerable gifts. 

Born of modest means in 1933 in Atlantic City, NJ, after graduating from Penn, Goldfinger served briefly in the US Army as a cabinet designer. After working for many years at design firms in the City, he opened his own firm with June Matkovic. They were married within the same year.

Myron Goldfinger is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, and a grandchild—along with an enduring and indelible impact on the Hamptons landscape.

His work appears all around the Northeast but nowhere more prominently than in the elegant enclaves in the Hamptons.
