Before the Thanksgiving festivities have commenced, join Montauk Chamber of Commerce for the 41st Annual “Run for Fun” Turkey Trot around Fort Pond on Wednesday, November 23. The race will step off from the Montauk Green with the race check-in taking place between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Participants can select a 3 or 6-mile route. The entree fee ranges from $10 to $15. The Mattituck-Cutchogue Teachers’ Association 12th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot will begin at 9 a.m. The 5K will start at the Mattituck High School and benefit “Helping Hands for Morgan,” St. Jude’s Research Hospital and the MCTA Senior Scholarship Fund. Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt’s Annual Walk it Off Walk, sponsored by Southampton Trails Preservation Society, will take place on Friday, November 24 at 10 a.m. Walkers should meet at the end of Round Pond Lane in Sag Harbor and expect a “fast paced hike to shed that Thanksgiving turkey.” For more information, visit www.longpondgreenbelt.org.
East Hampton Trails Preservation Society will present a 7-mile Hither Hills hike on Saturday, November 25 at 10 a.m. Attendees should meet at the Hither Hills West Overlook (about 1 mile east of the Rte 27/Old Montauk Highway split) and it’s recommended that participants bring a snack and water since the hike will last 3 hours.
