Hamptons Glow: The Year-Round Allure of Rowe Plastic Surgery

Beauty and self-care are absolutely year-round endeavors – Iโ€™m happy to say that Rowe Plastic Surgery is open in the Hamptons all year. Serving our community beyond the Summer speaks to the community and family atmosphere Dr. Rowe and his team carefully cultivated.

My technician, Registered Nurse Rissa, was amazing. She explained everything that was going to happen during our session, which helped me get ready and excited.

Rissa has been working with Dr. Rowe for more than 10 years. That kind of continuity and loyalty speaks to the practice’s culture. More than anything, I was honestly surprised she was so experienced because of her radiant and youthful glow, which certainly instills confidence. In fact, the entire Rowe Team was equal parts welcoming, informative, and, of course, beautiful.

Honesty is at the core of everything at Rowe Plastic Surgery and there is nothing superficial about getting real, qualified care from their team of professionals. Beyond the Hamptons, Rowe Plastic Surgery has offices in Southern Florida, NYC, and across New Jersey – so, theyโ€™re likely where you are when you are there!

As a 30-something (a boy never reveals his age!), Iโ€™ll admit that I had little experience with plastic surgery or getting a facial. Based on how my skin looked after getting a Jet Facial – it definitely showed. Iโ€™ll be going back – it was super easy and relaxing, and I have to say, Iโ€™ve been glowing ever since!

Iโ€™m loving the boost of confidence I get from having hydrated skin and from the lymphatic drainage (ask Rissa about what that is) – but what is honestly changing my life is the Botox I received to alleviate my TMJ pain. If you have TMJ, there are real, simple solutions using Botox. Obviously, Iโ€™m not a professional, but I cannot recommend this enough.

In the world of plastic surgery, there are plenty of misconceptions and misinformation – to avoid that, Iโ€™ll keep my comments to my experience at Rowe Plastic Surgery (full disclosure: fantastic experience, 10/10) and get the real information from the authority, Dr. Norman Rowe. Make sure you follow his โ€œDoctors Ordersโ€ for a rundown on what to look/ask for at a plastic surgeon.

My trip to Rowe Cosmetics was as easy as getting my haircut, and I didnโ€™t have to jump on the Jitney. As one of the few plastic surgery options in the Hamptons, their team is part of our community year-round. They are real, honest-to-goodness (do people say that) neighbors, and even offer 24/7 emergency suter options if you need stitches quickly while youโ€™re in the Hamptons.

Even during a Zoom interview with Dr. Rowe (the man stays busy), you can tell he practices what he preachesโ€”that is, he has fantastic skin. Hamptons.com caught up with Dr. Rowe to discuss the latest trends in plastic surgery, what age to start Botox, and how to find a real and qualified plastic surgeon.

What can a new patient expect during their initial consultation at Rowe Plastic Surgery?

We treat new patients like new friends – never a number. Weโ€™re hands-on and make sure that you are fully comfortable and informed about whatever service we are working on. Above all else, we are honest about what our patients can expect.

How do you ensure that patients feel comfortable and understood throughout their journey?

Communication is key and I like to start by introducing myself as โ€˜Norm,โ€™ not as Dr. Rowe to help put people at ease. Our established team has been part of so many individual journeys – we know that every client is an individual. Every single procedure is always explained in the most straightforward, easy-to-understand language.

Speaking of starting the health journey, at what age should someone establish a relationship with a plastic surgeon/beauty professional?

Thats a great question and I have to say first: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure. The short question is: absolutely by your late-20โ€™s. But, consider that the majority of the damage that you see in your skin when youโ€™re 30 happened in your teens: so, WEAR SUN BLOCK. Remember, a wrinkle on your skin is like a crease on a piece of paper – once its there, it’s there.

Can you describe a particularly memorable patient transformation and what it meant to you?

I had a young 16-year-old girl come into my office and she was wearing a sweatshirt, which I remembered clearly because it was July. Not sweatshirt weather – that told me something about her confidence and how she felt about her body. She was self-conscious about the size of her breasts and the shape of her nose. After a reduction and rhinoplasty, maybe 6 months later, she recognized me one sunny day on the pier. Big smile, holding hands with her boyfriend – no sweatshirt this time and she was wearing a tank top. Those moments mean a lot to me because I know I was part of helping her develop confidence and love her body.

What trends are you seeing in the field of plastic surgery right now?

The biggest trend is accessibility. Plastic surgery is so much more available for people, especially after COVID and with social media. Weโ€™re seeing ourselves so much more and in higher definition, naturally, we want to look our best. Hand-in-hand with accessibility is an increased level of awareness and understanding for what surgical options are available. Our patients are younger and seeking non-surgical options that can help prevent damage.

How do you educate your patients about the procedures and care required?

Talking, communication. It’s different for everybody, we take time to get to know you and make sure you know what we can offer.

What advice would you give to someone considering plastic surgery for the first time?

DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Be careful, there are lots of doctors out there who will tell you what you want to hear and not necessarily what you need to know. Make sure your doctor is Board Certified. Ask what are they board certified in and whether it is a certification recognized by the American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Only legit boards are recognized by ACGME.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

The big hugs from patients 6 months after their procedure.

How do you stay updated with the latest advancements in plastic surgery?

Read, read, read. I also have to do my homework. There have been so many changes in our industry that you have to stay up-to-date with the latest breakthroughs and procedures. I attend conferences, speak on panels, attend lectures, and am part of medical societies.

When youโ€™re in the Hamptons, how do you enjoy your time?

I love to surf, and I love the Hamptons! Life by the water is fantastic, and I love to get some surfing in at Ditch.

What are the biggest misconceptions that you work against as a plastic surgeon?

Biggest misconceptions come from what we are able to do. Weโ€™re not miracle workers and there are of course limits to what we can do, we canโ€™t turn back the clock 40 years.

What do you envision for the future of Rowe Plastic Surgery and the field of plastic surgery in general?

Our team will continue to grow and expand, tracking with the overall trend within the field: making plastic surgery more and more accessible. Plastic surgery is part of the dialogue now, our population is also aging, which will drive demand. Weโ€™re excited about how many more people are able to pursue surgical and non-surgical options.

What are the most popular cosmetic and reconstructive procedures you offer?

Most Popular: Rhinoplasty, Face Lift, Breast Augmentation. Reconstructive: Removal and Lift for Breast Cancer. This is a good place to mention the work I do with โ€œSilver Lining,โ€ an organization that matches women at high risk for breast cancer with preventative surgical options that save lives without sacrificing confidence by providing breast augmentation services.

How do you balance achieving a youthful, natural look while managing patient expectations?

Honesty. Its simple. We are clear and direct with our patients about what is medically possible. Again, this is critical: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. And be careful what you wish for: if you ask enough doctors, eventually, one may tell you โ€œYes, we can do that,โ€ even though they may not be able to meet your expectations.
