Jordan’s Run 5k is returning to the Hamptons on Sunday, July 30.
“Jordan’s Run is a race dedicated to the memory of Lance Corporal Jordan C. Haerter of Sag Harbor. Haerter was killed in action in Ramadi, Iraq in 2008; he was 19 years old,” noted Joi Jackson Perle. “The race, part of the Suffolk County Veterans Run Series, will feature a 5k run/walk, the Hampton Foodies food truck, face painting by the Salty Canvas, music and awesome swag bags.”
The 5K will begin and end at Pierson High School, with registration starting at 7 a.m. Volunteers and registered runners/walkers should park on the side streets closest to Pierson High School. The race will commence at 8:30 a.m.

The run/walk will head down Jermain, crossing Route 114 onto Hempstead. Next, participants will head to Bay Street crossing the Lance Corporal Jordan Haerter Veterans’ Memorial Bridge, looping right back over the bridge to West Water Street, then onto Glover. From Glover, runners and walkers will cross Main Street, head left to Oakland Avenue, and Oakland puts the runners back onto Jermain and to the finish at the High School.
Participants of Jordan’s Run 5K will experience the enthusiasm of patriotic red, white, and blue cheering crowds everywhere all along the race route, and runners/walkers will have the chance to give feedback on who was the most patriotic along the way. The winner will receive a gift certificate to a local restaurant. So whether you’re running or walking, or supporting participants, make sure to bring your red, white, and blue!
“Proceeds from the race benefit the Lcpl Jordan C. Haerter Scholarship Award and local veterans’ organizations,” added Perle.
