Soldier Ride Returning To The Hamptons To Support The Wounded Warrior Project

Pledge to ride at this year’s Soldier Ride, a long-standing tradition in the Hamptons area with roots to many local businesses, on Saturday, July 22 that benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. The ride follows the beaches, waterfronts, and interiors of farmland, towns, and villages. Your participation in this event will directly help heal the brave individuals who were wounded serving our country and their caregivers. When you ride, you help heal. Soldier Ride originated in 2004 and is entering its thirteenth year.

Proceeds from the Soldier Ride events will support Wounded Warrior Project, whose mission is to “raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, help injured service members aid and assist each other, and provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.”

“We’re extremely excited to bring Soldier Ride back to the Hamptons where it all began,” said Nick Kraus, Soldier Ride founder. “We’ve got over 50 Wounded Warriors participating in Soldier Ride – most of them for the first time – and we really appreciate the support of the community.”

This year’s monetary fundraising goal is $100,000 and every contribution helps. The Solider Ride will start and finish at Amagansett Farm (551 Montauk Highway, Amagansett). There is a 30 mile and 60 mile Soldier Ride route. Following the ride, there will be music, food, and an enjoyable summertime atmosphere.

Additionally, a 5k Community Walk will be held at Marine Park (Marine Park Drive, Sag Harbor).

A free screening of Welcome to Soldier Ride, which explores how the event has grown from a Cross-America bike ride to now include regional rides in towns and cities across the USA and UK, will be held at Amagansett Square on Friday, July 21 at 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit usawarriorstories.org.

The Solider Ride will begin with a 7 a.m. registration and packet pickup, followed by an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. The ride will commence at 9 a.m. at which time the Sag Harbor 5k Walk registration at Marine Park will open. The Lap of Heroes and 5k walk will begin at 11 a.m. once the cyclists depart. Finish off your morning and celebrate your participation at 12 p.m. with a community picnic at Amagansett Farm. Don’t forget your bicycle, helmet, and water bottle.

Registration for adults from Tuesday, June 17 through Thursday, July 20 is $35 and $30 for children. Event Day registration is $50.
