Edie Falco To Attend Q&A At Hamptons International Film Festival Screening Of Her Film “Judy Berlin”

The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) will continue its celebration of 25 years of cinema with a showing of Judy Berlin (HIFF 1999) on Sunday, April 9 at 6 p.m. Taking place at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, the viewing will include special guest Edie Falco, who will hold a Q&A after the event.

HIFF’s 25 Years: 25 Films series highlights films from each year of the Festival ranging from 1993 to 2016 at top cultural organizations in Palm Beach, New York City, Los Angeles, and across the South Fork. Many of the screenings will welcome a special guest who will participate in exclusive talk-backs and Q&As. The 25th and final screening in the series will take place during the 25th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival in October 2017.

Judy Berlin, directed by Eric Mendelsohn, is about a curious and eccentric woman who is on the verge of a life change that will drastically affect everyone in her life. The town she resides in is full of likable defeatists who will undoubtedly make Berlin’s change difficult. The film is classified as the kind of American independent film that initiates productive conversations and leaves audiences holding their breath. It becomes evident that even the simplest lives are often times the most profound and complex.

“Much of Judy Berlin, Eric Mendelsohn’s evocatively eerie meditation on modern suburbia, takes place during what may be the longest solar eclipse known to movies,” noted Stephen Holden in a 1999 New York Times review. “That solar event in the middle of a sleepy late September afternoon draws the lonely, withdrawn inhabitants of a middle-class Long Island town out of their immaculate houses to wander through the deserted streets like zombies stirring to life after a long, silent sleep.”

Tickets to the HIFF screening are $10.

The 25th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival will take place over Columbus Day Weekend, from Thursday, October 5 to Monday, October 9.
