Artists Alliance Of East Hampton Kicking Off 2017 Season With Members Show

The Artists Alliance of East Hampton, a not-for-profit corporation comprised primarily of professional working artists, is hosting their inaugural art show of 2017 this March at Ashawagh Hall. The AAEH Spring exhibit will encompass a variety of genres, styles and media that highlight the area’s artist’s wide-ranging talents.

“There are many new members and a new energy at the Alliance which we expect will propel this long time East End organization into exciting things in the future,” shared Anahi DeCanio.

The AAEH Members Spring Show will debut on Saturday, March 18th and remain on view through Sunday, March 26th. An opening reception with light refreshments will take place on Saturday March 18th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

For this show, AAEH has teamed up with Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF). 15 percent of all sales from the exhibit will support the 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves as a “no-kill” adoption center who actively rescues cats and dogs, as well as provides quality care and offers refuge until a forever home can be found.

“Artists are part of the DNA of the East End. They are one of the reasons that make our lives here are so special,” shared ARF Executive Director Scott Howe. “We hope the community feels the same way about ARF and we are proud to have been chosen as the recipient of the Alliance’s generosity.”

Prior to the opening reception on Saturday, March 18th, ARF’s Adoption Van will be stationed at Ashawagh Hall from 4 to 5 p.m., where attendees can meet and play with the adorable adoptees and, if they find one they simply can’t live without, they can learn how to start the adoption process.

Since Ashawagh Hall is situated in the historic arts community of Springs, Artists Alliance of East Hampton will welcome the Springs Library, in association with the Historical Society, for a presentation that will explore the history of The Springs. The lecture will be held on Friday, March 24th at 7 p.m.

All Artists Alliance of East Hampton Spring exhibit events are free and open to the public.

Founded in 1984 as the Jimmy Ernst Artists Alliance, the Artists Alliance of East Hampton was established to carry on the legacy of internationally acclaimed abstract painter Jimmy Ernst. The organization’s mission is “to strengthen and support the interests of the creative community living and working on the East End of Long Island.” AAEH does so by hosting networking opportunities for artists, artist lectures and presentations, and also supports local budding artists through high school scholarship programs and art workshops for middle school students.
