East End And Hamptons Halloween Happenings For Those Too Old To Trick Or Treat

Nicole Barylskiby Nicole Barylski

Sure collecting candy as a kid was fun, but these East End activities prove it’s not just about the trick or treating on Halloween.

For an evening of spine-chilling “fun,” head to the Darkside Haunted House and Village (5184 Route 25A, Wading River, www.darksideproductions.com). Dubbed one of Buzzfeed.com’s 25 most popular haunted houses in America, you’re definitely in for a truly terrifying experience that encompasses over 14,000 “scare feet” as well as 30 of the “most detailed scenes of fright” within the notorious Two-Attractions-in-One – “The Village” and “The House.” You can dare to take a tour Thursday, October 19th through Monday, October 31st.

The corn maze at Harbes Family Orchard (5698 Sound Avenue, Riverhead, www.harbesfamilyfarm.com) has been taken over by the dark side. You can explore the Harbes Spooky Night Maze every Saturday and Sunday until Sunday, October 30th, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Bridgehampton Lions (bridgehamptonlions.com) is presenting its annual Pumpkin Carving Contest on Monday, October 24th. This year the mystery category is monolithic, so check out their website to scout out what previous competitions have looked like and get carving. Entries may be brought to the Bridgehampton Community House (2357 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton) from 5 to 6 p.m. and once it’s dark enough, the judging will begin.

Keith & Margo’s Murder Mystery Events will host a Murder Mystery Event at the Southampton Inn (91 Hill Street, Southampton, www.southamptoninn.com) starting Friday, October 28th. The weekend long investigation will begin on Friday evening, as participants meet fellow investigators, some of which are actors who will blend in with the crowd and might even find a way to point the finger at you – so be aware of the crime scene chatter. The action will resume during Saturday’s lunch and Saturday evening will feature a festive costume party dinner. The case will come to a close during Sunday’s breakfast, where attendees can share their theory on the crime.

Sylvester Manor Educational Farm (80 North Ferry Road, Shelter Island, sylvestermanor.org) will hold Mysteries of the Manor on Shelter Island on Saturday, October 29th. From 12 to 3 p.m., stop by for haunted hayrides, local ghost tales, snacks and entertaining autumn activities for the entire family.

Mourning The Victorian Way: An 1860s Funeral Reenactment And Graveyard Tour will take place at the Southampton Historical Museum’s Rogers Mansion (17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, www.southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org) on Saturday, October 29th, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. During the 19th century, wakes and funerals were typically held at home. The Museum will recreate an 1860s funeral service and cover Southampton funerary traditions of the 19th century during this insightful, somber scene. The Museum will hang black crepe, mirrors and windows throughout the Mansion’s Music Room so the deceased’s souls are not disturbed and clocks will be halted to the moment of death. Once the mourning has ceased, attendees will trail the coffin to nearby North End Cemetery, for a tour of the burying grounds. Attendees are welcome to come in 19th century mourning attire and those who don all black will receive a $10 discount on the admission fee.

East End Seaport Museum (103 3rd Street, Greenport, www.eastendseaport.org) is offering two Halloween excursions to the Long Beach Bar “Bug” Lighthouse. On Saturday, October 29th, dress up in your spookiest attire and enjoy a ghoulish holiday event from the 4 to 6 p.m. that includes a cruise to and from the lighthouse, wine and cheese, ghost stories, a costume contest, and exploration of the lighthouse. On Sunday, October 30th, East End Seaport Museum is hosting a family-friendly Halloween happening with more ghost stories, another costume contest, games, cider and snacks, and a trip to the lighthouse. The Family Event to Bug Lighthouse will take place from 4 to 6 p.m.

For more macabre tales, join Canio’s Books (290 Main Street, Sag Harbor, caniosbooks.com) for Haunted Stories at Canio’s on Saturday, October 29th, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Val Shaffner will read (in semi-darkness) eerie stories by Edgar Allan Poe, as well as other frightening ghosts stories. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and refreshments will be served.

Laverne Cox, Ryan McCartan, Victoria Justice, Christina Milian and Adam Lambert star in Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show remake. (Photo: www.facebook.com)

Southampton Arts Center (25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, southamptonartscenter.org) is hosting its 1st annual screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday, October 29th at 10 p.m. In the 1975 musical comedy horror, which was directed by Jim Sharman, when innocent sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) get stranded during a storm due to a flat tire, the couple decide to take shelter in the spooky mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist. While at the creepy home, Brad and Janet encounter an eclectic group of characters, like a rocking biker (Meat Loaf) and a peculiar butler (Richard O’Brien). Extravagant dances and rock songs lead to the unforgettable debut of Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.” Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and prizes will be awarded for the best costume.

Suffolk Theater (118 East Main Street, Riverhead, www.suffolktheater.com) is also hosting a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday, October 29th at 8 p.m.

  • Palm Tree Music Festival, the ultimate Hamptons party, returns for its sixth edition on Saturday, June 27th at the Shinnecock Reservation in Southampton. Known for blending world-class music with laid-back luxury, the one‑day festival once again brings together an electric lineup and an atmosphere that captures summer at its absolute best. This year’s lineup includes headlining performances by Palm Tree Crew Co-Founder Kygo, The Chainsmokers, and Disco Lines, alongside additional sets by It’s Murph, Xandra, Will Sass, and Brooke Brazelton.

ā€œThe Hamptons has always been at the heart of the Palm Tree Music Festival story,ā€ said Palm Tree Crew Co-Founder Myles Shear. ā€œThe energy from the fans and the local community makes this show truly special. We’re thrilled to return for our sixth year and have a lot in store to take this experience to new heights for another unforgettable celebration.ā€ā

The Hamptons return follows a milestone year for Palm Tree Crew. After a sold‑out fifth Hamptons edition, the brand expanded globally with debut festivals in St. Tropez and Sardinia, new U.S. destinations in Montecito and Napa Valley, and the announcement of its first Asia festival in Singapore set for April 2026. @palmtreefestival

We’re all bombarded with New Year, New Me posts on Instagram and TikTok as health takes center stage in everyone’s 2026 goals. Many choose to participate in ā€œDry January,ā€ a challenge that encourages participants to take a break from alcohol. Non-alcoholic alternatives are also a great option for those who want to join the bar crawl without the stigma of holding a water bottle. With help from our friends at Kidd Squid Brewery, we sampled a variety of options at their tasting room in Sag Harbor. Here are our top picks.

1. Wölffer Estate: Spring in a Bottle Rose

You can’t go anywhere in the Hamptons without grabbing a glass of Wolffer’s iconic RosĆ©. Don’t fret! You can still enjoy the iconic, vibrant, fruity taste with their non-alcoholic version.

Tasting notes: It’s no surprise that it is a favorite in The Hamptons. The lack of alcohol doesn’t affect the rich, elegant rose, peach, and apple notes. This is a delicious, fresh, sparkling rosĆ©.

2. Hedlum

Is a locally owned company that produces crispy non-alcoholic beers that perfectly mirror their alcoholic counterparts. I tried their Easy Down Lager, and it was perfect!

Tasting notes: It pours out like a beer with a nice frothy top layer. It is crisp and smooth and reminds me of a Sapporo.

3. Aplós

Another locally owned company that produces non-alcoholic drinks crafted by award-winning mixologists. I fell in love with their credo, ā€œLife should be sipped slowly.ā€ I tried their Chili Margarita and loved the sparkling citrus notes with a bit of a kick. It’s infused with adaptogens and nootropics, which are thought to reduce stress, elevate your mood, and overall just deliver that perfect chill for any social setting.

Tasting notes: Crisp and tangy, with very strong citrus notes, this reminded me of kombucha. It was very refreshing.
