Jack Ferver Takes A Look At The “Haves” And “Have Nots” During The Watermill Center’s Debut reACT Series

The Watermill Center will conclude its inaugural reACT series with performances of Jack Ferver’s multidisciplinary work Chambre on Saturday, October 29th beginning at 5 p.m.

Chambre first premiered in October 2015 at New Museum in New York City. It is a collaboration between the American writer, choreographer, and director Jack Ferver and American visual artist Marc Swanson who takes Jean Genet’s Les Bonnes (The Maids) as a point of departure for a farcical and haunting attack on our culture of celebrity and greed.

“We’re watching Ferver the postmodernist, the comic playwright, the social critic and provocateur. He consistently engages with ideas of selling the show and himself (he chose the title because it’s “fancy-sounding”), and in this we see the fury at the heart of his humor,” said Helen Shaw of TimeOut.

Ferver is joined by performers Jacob Slominski and Michelle Mola in an exquisite and outrageous performance that asks not how such a violent thing could have happened, but why things like this do not happen more often.

“Hot on the heels of the inaugural reACT series performance with Trisha Brown Dance Company in May 2016, and our most successful Watermill Center Annual Summer Benefit & Auction to-date, we’re thrilled to invite the public to Watermill for yet another culturally engaging evening with a captivating performance by one of our resident artist alumni,” shared William Wagner, former Managing Director of the Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation.

The Watermill Center’s inaugural reACT series showcases the work of former Watermill Resident Artists and provides audience members with a unique opportunity to experience these works where they were originally developed – in part or in full. This series launched earlier this year with the Trisha Brown Dance Company.

Tickets are $30 and $25 for members. Please note Chambre includes mature and graphic content that the artist feels is inappropriate for children.

The Watermill Center is located at 39 Water Mill Towd Road in Water Mill. For more information, call 212-253-7484 ext. 115 or visit www.watermillcenter.org. To learn more about Jack Ferver, visit www.jackferver.org.

  • As summer winds down and the cool breezes of fall approach, jewelry enthusiasts and fashion lovers alike are looking for the latest seasonal trends. Yael Fraynd, founder and president of Yaya Publicity, offers an insider’s perspective on what to expect this fall — especially for those embracing the chic lifestyle of the Hamptons.

Looking ahead to fall, Fraynd described the evolving styles with enthusiasm. For fall, expect to see bold statement pieces, rich gemstone colors like orange and a playful mix of metals.

She also noted the influence of pop culture on jewelry trends, including celebrities like Taylor Swift, who is recently engaged, saying, “It could also be just, you know, with Taylor Swift, who has such a big effect on what people like.”

On the seamless transition from summer to fall styles, she observed, “In the summer, you see a bit of Western-inspired pieces, and I think that they really do kind of transition into fall really nicely.
