The 35th Annual Montauk Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival is set to return to the East End this October for a full weekend of family fun over Columbus Day Weekend. Celebrating Montauk in its hidden gem of a season, the Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th on the Green in the center of downtown Montauk.

The event will kick-off on Saturday with the Famous Clam Chowder contest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where food personalities and enthusiasts alike will judge a myriad of locally-made chowders – which can be sampled “until it runs out” typically around 1 p.m. Saturday will also feature live music by Hopefully Forgiven from 2 to 5 p.m. Attendees can enjoy inflatable rides, face and street painting, pumpkin decorating, raffles, Oktoberfest style food, clams and oysters, Long Island wines and beers (for those 21 and over), and a number of other family-friendly activities on both days. On Sunday, festivalgoers will see the annual Montauk Playhouse auction and live music from the 3 B’s (from 12 to 3 p.m.), as well as the Montauk Chamber’s annual Cash Catch drawing at 4:30 p.m.

This event is not only for fun though — the Fall Festival is one of the Chamber’s most successful yearly charitable events, as well. “Montauk Fall Festival is the Chamber’s major annual fundraiser,” noted Laraine Creegan, the chamber executive director. “In turn, the Chamber donates proceeds to Montauk’s other not-for-profits such as the Montauk Food Pantry, the July 4th and Fall Fireworks Fund, the Frank Cappozola Scholarship Fund and others.”
