The weekend we all dread is here. You’ve got one big last hurrah before Tumbleweed Tuesday arrives, so here’s where to make the most of it.
You can BYOD (bring your own dog) to Yappy Hour or leave with a new four-legged family member. The Southampton Historical Museum and North Shore Animal League America benefit on Thursday, September 1st at the Grounds of the Rogers Mansion (17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, 631-283-2494, www.southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org) is “a mix of dog lovers, history, fun, and mingling” that will include a special appearance from Beth Stern, North Shore Animal League America’s National Spokesperson, Foster Mom and Volunteer. Attendees will enjoy a “paw” reader, caricaturist, Chinese auction, and the chance to make a few new friends, including adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Admission is $25 in advance, $35 at the door, $10 for dogs, and free for children.
The Surf Lodge’s (183 Edgemere Street, Montauk, 631-483-5037, thesurflodge.com) Summer Concert Series will wrap up with No Maddz on Thursday, The Sturdy Souls and Beach Slang on Friday, Gary Clark Jr. on Saturday, Talib Kweli and Cole Ramstad on Sunday, and Yami Bolo & The One Vibration Band, hosted by Mole and presented by Large Up, on Monday. Additionally, Ben Watts will host an Aussie BBQ Closing Summer Party on Monday.

City of the Sun is headlining the Ilegal Mezcal Music Series at Montauk Beach House (55 South Elmwood Avenue, Montauk, 631-668-2112, thembh.com) on Thursday at 7 p.m. Then, the Labor Day celebrations kick-off on Friday with Steve Smith of Dirty Vegas who will be featured in a live, intimate acoustic performance that begins at 5 p.m. The concert will showcase new material from his upcoming solo debut album. Smith will return on Saturday for Good Bye, Summer. From 1 to 7 p.m., stop by for sets and percussion from Smith, as well as music from Nelleke. On Sunday, MBH will host From North to South: Time to Fly from 1 to 7 p.m. The afternoon will include DJ sets from resident DJ Spiky Phil and Austin Pollis.
On Thursday, you can catch sets from Brandon Niederauer Band (at 6:30 p.m.), Nancy Atlas at (8 p.m.) and Hot Lava (at 10 p.m.) at Stephen Talkhouse (161 Main Street, Amagansett, 631-267-3117, stephentalkhouse.com). Friday features Insane Asylum at 6 p.m. and Hot Date Band at 10 p.m. Saturday showcases The English Beat at 7 p.m., Roctopus at 9 p.m. and Hello Brooklyn at 11 p.m. On Sunday, it’s The Taj Mahal Trio at 7 p.m., Lez Zeppelin at 9 p.m. and Rubix Kube at 10:30 p.m. Celebrate Loudon Wainwright III’s 70th birthday on Monday during a Birthday Party that will include special guest appearances from Rufus Wainwright, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Suzzy Roche, Chaim Tannenbaum, and Peter Fallon. The festivities begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday brings Karaoke with Helen “The Diva” McGuire at 10 p.m.

Dutch DJ duo Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano are spinning on Saturday during the Hamptonzoo Party and Young M.A. will perform her hit “OOOUU” during Hefanieee Sunday at A.M. Southampton.

On Saturday, Brian Kelly (of The Points Guy) and Housing Works, a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, invite you to “Labor of Love: The Hamptons” to toast to the end of summer and the progress towards the end of AIDS in New York. The evening will include a performance from Dita Von Teese and music by DJ Lina.
