Guild Hall in East Hampton will be kicking off August with good news for those looking to add some new art to their walls as they host their 70th annual Clothesline Art Sale on Saturday, August 6th. The event, which has been going strong since 1946, will showcase original works in a variety of mediums from many East End artists for exceptional prices!
The fair is a perfect opportunity for seasoned collectors and first time buyers alike to find exceptional pieces that they love at a fair price. The highest price at the event will be $2,200, and all the proceeds made from the sale of the artwork will be split between the artists and Guild Hall, who provides entertainment and events for the community and visitors year-round.
“The Clothesline Art Sale is a special day proving a unique opportunity for East End artists to have their work offered to those looking for the perfect piece for their home or to add to their collection,” said Barbara Jo Howard, Director of Marketing & Communications at Guild Hall.
Approximately 400 artists will be participating in the event, and patrons are welcome to pay with cash or credit and take their art home with them the same day. Featured mediums will include oil, acrylic, watercolor, prints, small sculpture, photographs and collage, as well as original prints, such as lithograph, silkscreen, etching, drypoint and monoprint.
Artists looking to sell their work at the fair must be 18-years-old or older, and make a $10 contribution to Guild Hall, which will allow up to five works to be submitted. All art being featured in the fair must be brought to Guild Hall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 4th or Friday, August 5th. The sale will open at 9 a.m. sharp, and will last until 4 p.m., rain or shine. Admission to the Clothesline Art Sale is free.
