In 2013, Ippodo, the iconic 300-year-old Japanese tea company, launched its first location in the United States. Previously only available at its two stores in Kyoto and Tokyo, and by mail order, Ippodo opened at Kajitsu, the Michelin-starred vegetarian New York City-based Japanese restaurant, and this summer, the Company will present a pop-up in the Hamptons.

“Since we opened the first international location of Ippodo in Manhattan three years ago, matcha has become huge with New Yorkers and many customers’ everyday pick me up,” noted Kenichi Kano, Ippodo Tea’s International Director. “We’re thrilled to bring our high quality matcha that Ippodo has been making for almost 300 years to the tastemakers of the Hamptons and to be collaborating with the beautiful hotel, The Maidstone, for our pop-up.”
On Saturday, July 30th and Sunday, July 31st, you can stop by The Maidstone in East Hampton from 4 to 7 p.m. to cool down with a selection of iced matcha lattes, matcha slushies, and matcha mojitos that were created by Ippodo’s tea master, Riichiro Kato.
Ippodo is known for its wide range of green teas, tea products, and freshly brewed teas to-go. The brand provides customers with the opportunity to experience rare types of tea and offers 15 types of matcha alone.
“To enjoy refreshing matcha slushies and mojitos in their garden is the perfect way to spend an early summer evening,” added Kano.
The Maidstone is located at 207 Main Street in East Hampton. For more information, visit www.themaidstone.com.
