As it gets warmer and warmer in the Hamptons, a community favorite draws closer and closer.
In anticipation of its upcoming complimentary Summer Concert Series, Montauk Chamber of Commerce is holding a Concert for the Concerts benefit on Sunday, May 1st at Zum Schneider Montauk (4 South Elmwood Avenue, Montauk).
“We are very excited to present our Annual Concert for the Concerts, and for the 2nd time, Zum Schneider will host this event,” shared Laraine Creegan, Executive Director of the Chamber. “This fund raising helps us fund the Monday night concerts on the Green and the concerts in the Harbor on Sunday nights.” From 3 to 7 p.m., attendees will enjoy live music from the 3 B’s, Lynn Blue Band and Joe Delia & Thieves, delicious fare, cold brews, and dancing. “These concerts showcase lots of our local talent and they are donating their time for this cause,” explained Creegan. “We always have a great time at this event, so bring the family and the kids for a grand afternoon.” Admission to Concert for the Concerts is a $10 donation at the door for adults and free for children.

Gene Casey was also supposed to headline the benefit, but unfortunately, he recently broke a couple of fingers and will be unable to play. “We always look forward to the fundraiser because it unofficially marks the beginning of the busy season for venues and performers alike,” said Casey. “We get to say hello to familiar and new faces and kick things off. Particularly in Montauk, a town that has always supported live music. And the folks that will show up Sunday are the REAL Montauk people: good natured, hardworking and loyal.”
Lynn Blue, who volunteered when the Chamber needed a last minute headliner, is thrilled to be a part of the afternoon. “It should be a lot of fun,” she added.
You can expect to hear Gene Casey & the Lone Sharks later this summer during one of the Concerts on the Green. “As soon as this cast is removed we’ll be ready to rock Montauk again,” Casey noted. “We’ve been participating in the series — and the spring concert for around 15 years.”
The melodies will continue during the 7th annual Montauk Music Festival, taking place Thursday, May 19th through Sunday, May 22nd. The four-day, family- friendly happening will fill “The End” with performances. The volunteer-run, grassroots festival is an ode to Montauk’s music scene that will feature shows from over 100 talented up-and-coming independent artists, who will play more than 200 shows at 35 different Montauk venues.

Memorial Day weekend will bring Montauk’s Art on the Green. The juried outdoor art show is curated by Montauk Artist’s Association and will take place Friday, May 27th through Sunday, May 29th.
The final May festivity is an “only in Montauk” experience. On Sunday, May 29th, surfers, skaters, and boogie boarders looking for a little luck before the beach season begins can bring their boards to St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church (67 South Essex Street, Montauk) during the Annual Blessing of the Boards.
And, you’ll have to wait until Monday, June 27th for the start of the Concerts on the Green series.
