On Tuesday, March 8th, Guild Hall will pay tribute to several artistic visionaries during its 31st Annual Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards. Taking place at the Rainbow Room in New York City, the evening will toast to Sarah Jessica Parker, Mary Heilmann, A.M. Homes, Charlotte Moss and Barry S. Friedberg.
“This year’s awards are special in that for the first time in the Award’s history, the three honorees for visual, literary, and performing arts are all women,” shared BJ Howard, Director of Marketing & Communications at Guild Hall. “The balloting is done anonymously via mail and the nominees represented many men and women.”
Artist and President of Guild Hall’s Academy of the Arts, Eric Fischl will present Sarah Jessica Parker with her award for the actress’ contributions to Performing Arts. Mary Heilmann will be honored for Visual Arts, presented by Alice Pratt Brown, Director of the Whitney Museum Adam Weinberg. Singer, songwriter and author Rosanne Cash will pay tribute to A.M. Homes for her role in Literary Arts. Charlotte Moss and Barry S. Friedberg will be presented with a Special Award for Leadership and Philanthropic Endeavors by philanthropist Howard Milstein.
“The fact that these three honorees are being awarded is a testament to their career as artists,” added Howard.
Along with his presentation to Jessica Parker, Fischl will serve as the evening’s host. Marty Cohen, Board Chair, along with Ruth Appelhof, Ph.D., Guild Hall’s Executive Director, will welcome guests.
