Being married and staying married is a blessing in life. There are many different definitions of a good marriage; most have to do with finding your lifetime soul mate, a best friend, and loving a great person. Lastly, there are also the rare cases of having a luxurious Hamptons lifestyle. You know, the mansions, the limos, the helicopter rides to avoid traffic if you are not using the private jet. There are usually assistants to take care of any need, along with the financial freedom to make choices that others can only dream about. The “real wives” of the very wealthy Hamptonites are a reality that will never be a cable show, but a special club! Here are a few reasons why it is a great club to be in.
1. Jessica Seinfeld is the wife of Jerry (getting richer every second) Seinfeld. She is raising three lovely children, determined on keeping them grounded so that that they are normal. As normal as you can be when your dad has almost a billion dollars. Jessica, who was raised in Oyster Bay, Long Island, was born Nina Danielle Sklar, and she is hardly ever groping for the spotlight. She is active in her Baby Buggy charity, which she founded years ago to help recycle all things babies after they grow out of items. Jessica has written a healthy cookbook for children and launched a website for cooking called, “Do it delicious.” All are sweet positive projects. Jerry has reportedly said many times how Jessica has given him a great full life. No doubt Jerry has done the same for Jessica.

2. Nancy Shevell is the wife of former (or is it forever?) Beatle Paul McCartney. Nancy has been with Sir Paul for almost five years. Nancy is a lifelong lover of the Hamptons, as was Paul’s first wife Linda. Nancy has received the seal of approval from all of Paul’s children from his first marriage, something wife number two, Heather Mills, never really had. Nancy did not enter her relationship with the Beatles-billionaire empty handed, she came to the wedding with a reported $35 million in net worth. She had a career in business and her dad Mike Shevell is a reported billionaire himself. Money, money, money everywhere “can’t buy you love” but it can “Let it Be” really good.
3. Pittsburgh born Beth Ostrosky Stern is the second wife of Howard Stern. She is a tall, stunning, head turner who is a popular guest at so many Hamptons functions. Her dad was a dentist in Pittsburgh. Howard, who is now approaching billionaire status, has credited Beth with turning his life around. The Sterns, who have an impressive South of the Highway Hamptons home, were married at La Cirque on October 3, 2008 after seven years of dating. She has written a few books and is a popular fixture at the East Hampton Library’s Authors Night fundraiser. Another interest of Beth is helping stray cats find homes. Make no mistake about it this couple’s power standing is on the rise in the Hamptons. Many credit Beth Stern for steering Howard into the accepted main stream of American society. The number one attribute about Beth is everyone who meets says she is “sweet.”

4. Ricky Anne Loew-Beer is no other than Mrs. Ralph Lauren. Ricky married Ralph in 1964 and they have now been married for over 50 years with three adult children. Ralph Lauren is estimated to be worth $7 billion and Ricky has been there to watch him make almost every dollar. This is truly an amazing story of a couple that loves summering in the Hamptons since the 1970’s. So how did they meet? Ricky was the receptionist at an eye doctor who happened to be Ralph’s doctor in the early 60s. Billions of dollars later, the Lauren’s list of home locations (besides their oceanfront Montauk spread) includes Manhattan, Bedford in Westchester County, N.Y. with also a ski house in Colorado and a winter getaway home in Jamaica. All the homes have the Ralph and Ricky touch that have been featured in so many magazine spreads. Ricky and Ralph are extremely active with their own charities, especially in the fight against breast cancer.

To be that rich and to choose the Hamptons for a summer retreat says a lot about the summers on the East End. The beaches along the bays and oceans along with the back country roads with pristine quaint villages always catches the eye of the first time visitor. To those that own a piece, or rent it, it’s so much more. It is a wonderful place to call home. For Jessica Seinfeld, Nancy Shevell, Beth Ostrosky Stern and Ricky Anne Lauren, it’s no doubt just as special.
