“We are constantly asked by many of the East End’s non-profits to host their events or in this case, to provide a little entertainment for our youth during the cold winter months,” noted Tracy Mitchell, Bay Street Theater’s Executive Director. “And we’re always happy to help out when we can.” This winter, Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is answering those requests by expanding their youth geared programming with the debut of its Kids Films.
The series was founded and is supported by Bay Street’s Community Connections Council (3CO), which was established in 2014 to foster community-based events as part of the Sag Harbor Center for the Arts aspect of the Theater. “Fortunately, our Community Connections Council has been helping us,” noted Mitchell. “We are so grateful for their help and financial support as well.”

The screenings will begin on Sunday, January 17th with “Inside Out.” The animated Walt Disney and Pixar film follows Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), who moves from the Midwest to San Francisco, leaving her emotions, Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith), to try and sort out the life-changing event.

On Sunday, January 24th, the series will feature a classic, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” After Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) decides to skip school one final time before graduation and calls in sick, Ferris embarks on an epic expedition through the streets of Chicago. But, his high school principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) doesn’t believe Ferris actually has a cold, so he sets out to catch the jokester in the act.
On Sunday, February 14th, it’s “Finding Nemo.” The Valentine’s Day viewing will explore life under the sea, as Marlin (Albert Brooks) sets out to find his son, Nemo (Alexander Gould), who was captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney.
The series wraps up with the “Toy Story” trilogy, starting with “Toy Story” on Sunday, March 6th. “Toy Story 2” is next on Sunday, March 13th, and the finale is “Toy Story 3” on Sunday, April 3rd.
Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is a cultural center that partners with several local organizations, including Joseph Theinert Memorial Fund: The Telling Project, Josh Levine Memorial Foundation, Take 2 Documentary Film Festival, Katy’s Courage, Fighting Chance, Southampton Hospital and more. The Center for the Arts, which is led by Ian Ziskin, was created to complement Bay Street Theater’s core mission as a not-for-profit professional theater.
