Children of all ages are invited to join the Parrish Art Museum during their second annual Summer Family Party on Sunday, August 2nd. From 3 to 6 p.m., the East End community is welcome at the Water Mill-based museum for a variety of informal workshops, during which attendees can meet and learn from established, practicing artists.
Artists including Michael Combs, Alice Hope, Paton Miller, Dan Rizzie, Alexis Rockman, and John Torreano will lead art-making projects for both children and adults. Workshops will cover painting, sculpture, field drawings, 3-D modeling, and more. The afternoon will also include hip-hop dance lessons with A&G Dance Company teachers Adam and Gail Baranello, stop-motion animation stations with The Good School teachers, Jackson Pollock-inspired drip painting workshop with Joyce Raimondo, an art scavenger hunt, and the chance to create original, classic flip books.
Not only does the event provide attendees with an afternoon of amusement and the opportunity to expand their imagination, it supports the Museum’s mission to encourage connections among individuals, art, and artists of many disciplines, like the Summer Family Party featured participants. Combs, Miller, Rizzie, and Torreano are all showcased in Parrish’s permanent collection. As is Rockman, who will be featured in a full-scale exhibition at the Parrish this October.
