More than 200 people came together on a beautiful Friday evening in the Hamptons to attend the Peconic Baykeer’s annual fundraising gala “Celebration of our Bays” at the stunning Water Mill estate of George and Joan Hornig, who generously opened up their home for this important event. Coupled with a book signing by author Annie Falk, who donated 1000 copies of her latest book “Hamptons Entertaining,” it made for a special evening.
The Peconic Baykeeper is the only independent, not-for-profit advocate solely dedicated to the protection and improvement of the aquatic ecosystems of the Peconic and South Shore estuaries of Long Island. Its clean water mission is advanced through conservation and management initiatives, public education, research, monitoring and participation in the public environmental review of projects and activities that may adversely impact the ecological health of the region’s waters. The recovery depends on the kinds of enlightened coastal management policies and responsible development practices that can be adopted when citizens and communities come together and are informed and engaged in local decision-making.

George Hornig thanked the assembled guests for attending and emphasized how important it is to protect our local waters as pollution threatens the vitality and health of our bays.
Guests were treated to cocktails, and delicious hors d’oeuvres provided by Tim Burke Productions, while Dennis O’Connor provided the music.
