Water Mill is joining in on the Southampton Town 375th anniversary celebrations by hosting a community event, Water Mill Day, on Friday, June 5th, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. The evening will include a public tour of the hamlet and three historic Water Mill locations, the Water Mill Community House, the Water Mill Museum, and the Water Mill Commons, site of the Corwith Windmill and the Veterans Memorial.

A knowledgeable group of Water Mill savvy volunteers will be posted at the three sites to provide a historic background of the hamlet and answer attendee questions.
The Corwith Windmill was originally built in Sag Harbor in 1800, but transported to the Water Mill Commons 13 years later. It will be open for guests to take a look at the machinery and learn about wind power. The Veterans Memorial pays tribute to the hundreds of Water Mill men and women who served their country from the Revolutionary War to the Iraq War.
The Water Mill Community House, located east of the Commons, was built as a community chapel in 1897. The historic building is set adjacent to the hamlet’s 1729 cemetery.
Water Mill’s 17th century water-powered gristmill is now the home of the Water Mill Museum (41 Old Mill Road). On Water Mill Day, visitors can journey through the building, view the exhibits and watch firsthand how water power is used to grind corn.
Free refreshments will be served on the Village Green. Admission to Water Mill day is free.
