Bay Street Theater is ready for the curtain to rise on the first production of their 2015 Mainstage Season. The debut play is “The New Sincerity,” a comedy written by Alena Smith and directed by Bob Balaban. Making its world premiere at Bay Street, the play details today’s world of politics, love, success and social media.

Smith paints a colorful picture of the new generation in this production by creating a scene where journalist Rose Spencer becomes tangled in a love triangle after her literary circle involves themselves in a chaotic occupy-style movement.
The cast includes Justine Lupe as Rose, Teddy Bergman as Benjamin, Peter Mark Kendall as Django and Elvy Yost as Natasha. The production team includes set designer Beowulf Boritt, co-set designer Alex Distler, lighting designer Mike Billings, sound designer Brandon Wolcott, associate sound director Eliot Davoren, prop manager Heather Urgina and production stage manager Jennifer Kahn.
“The New Sincerity” will debut on Tuesday, May 26th and will run through Sunday, June 14th. A “Pay What You Can” performance, with limited tickets, will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 7 p.m. Student discounts will be available for Sunday matinees.
