On Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th, more than 750 Long Island locals joined Southampton Town Councilwoman Christine P. Scalera for the Great East End Clean-Up. The two-day clean-up was part of an effort to remove litter and debris from public areas throughout Southampton Town.
This is the second year Councilwoman Scalera sponsored the event. She spent the clean-up tidying up the bayside of Pikes Beach in the Westhampton Dunes, while another group of volunteers worked on the ocean side of the Town Beach. The annual happening brought out community members of all ages, including Girl Scout Troop #536 of Southampton, who chose Cooper’s Beach as their clean-up spot. Great East End Clean-Up volunteers helped get rid debris from public locations such as roadsides, trails, parks, and beaches.
