The third annual Life in the Abstract, an exhibit at Ille Arts in Amagansett, debuts on Friday, October 31st, and will run through Monday, November 10th. The show displays the work of three abstract painters, John Haubrich, Barbara Groot and Dru Frederick.

“Abstraction – the world I love most. If one digs a little deeper, life is an abstraction,” Barbara Groot, artist and curator, said. “I chose these talented artists on the basis of their personal interpretation of abstraction and because I admire their work.”
The exhibit is expected to generate conversation regarding the nature and interpretation of art, as well as the design. This year’s show is unique in that each of the artists are also involved designers. Groot pursued a career in textile design, Haubrich is currently an art director and Frederick is currently involved in art restoration and conservation.
These backgrounds have allowed for the creation of original pieces with elements of geometry, line, color and balance. As a group, the show is meant to compliment and enhance the others and promote a “dialogue between the paintings.”
An opening reception for Life in the Abstract will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 5 to 8 p.m.
