Southampton’s Village Latch Inn was recently recognized with an official Certificate of Appreciation by the White House Communications Agency. The Inn, an apparent White House favorite, has been awarded this honor for six consecutive years as the property serves as “local intelligence headquarters” when Vice President Joe Biden visits Southampton.
“The members of the White House Communications Agency wish to express their sincere appreciation for the outstanding manner in which you provided support to the Vice President of the United States during his visit to Southampton,” the official notice read. “Your unique abilities, coupled with your superb attitude and professionalism, enabled our Agency to provide critical communications for the Vice President, the White House Staff and the United States Secret Service.”
Biden has been staying at the Southampton sanctuary since his days as a Senator and now stays there nearly every time he hits the Hamptons. In the past, Vice President Al Gore and members of the Graham family, former owners of The Washington Post, have also stayed at the hotel.
“Members of The White House staff love the informal, casual vibe of our hotel,” Owner Marta White said. “They appreciate the secluded atmosphere of our property, yet its proximity being just blocks from Southampton’s downtown. We love having them because they are invariable polite and respectful of our property.”
The Village Latch Inn is located at 101 Hill Street in Southampton.
