It was a clear and sunny day in Sag Harbor for the second annual Holiday House Hamptons, presented by Hamptons Cottages and Gardens (HC&G). All of the proceeds from the event, which was held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, benefited The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, as the founder of Holiday House Hamptons, Iris Dankner, is a seventeen-year breast cancer survivor. “I wanted to join my two passions of interior design and the search to find a cure for breast cancer,” expressed Dankner.
The indoor and outdoor living spaces were created by eighteen of the top interior and landscape designers from the East End and Manhattan, who designed a unique and impressive space inside the Watchcase homes in Sag Harbor. The main attraction for the evening was a two-bedroom penthouse loft, a six bedroom townhouse, and a one-bedroom bungalow.

Iris Dankner and Christopher Hyland co-chaired the event, and the Honorary Design Chair was Steven Gambrel. Mary McDonald, Thom Filicia and Vincente Wolf served as the event’s Design Chairs.
Campion Platt designed the master bedroom in the penthouse model, and said it was inspired by a “Spring Awakening.” The outdoor terrace was designed by two European designers, Milly de Cabrol and Ani Antreasyan. They wanted to create the feel of a European backyard, which they accomplished with old terracotta pots, olive trees, and relaxed seating. The final product felt like it belonged in the Tuscany countryside.
“As admirers of Holiday House NYC, we at HC&G are once again so pleased to give a sense of place to Iris’ mission in our own backyard. This summer, Holiday House Hamptons will encompass all that is wonderful and stylish about life in Sag Harbor,” said Kendell Cronstrom, Editor in Chief at HC&G.
Eugenia Au Kim of The Design Studio described her landscape design as “premeditated casual,” as with what you would choose to wear to a Hamptons party. Iris Dankner designed a space featured in Au Kim’s patio. The Holiday House Hamptons founder looked to incorporate beach aspects by choosing pieces of coral, driftwood, beach grass and seashells in her design.
Elsa Soyars had the task of designing one of the bedrooms, which she described as “Decadent and Discreet.” She was inspired by the height of the ceiling to include a four post bed, and wanted it to be “A little country elegant and fun.” The wallpaper was an embossed Madagascar with a silver leaf coating, meant to look like crocodile skin. She wanted the room to have more of a masculine feel, with the theme, “La Dolce Vita,” or the good life.

Scott Formby designed the poolside lounge, which featured an oversized lantern in the center, a floor lounger with oversized pillows, and a rack of collectible Japanese Kimonos. He aimed to create a relaxed feel, and have it be a place that people could close the doors and entertain guests, or leave them open and be able to hang out and relax near the pool.
