The East Hampton Historical Society is displaying a Jazz Age East Hampton exhibit celebrating the Prohibition Era on the East End with a special tour by the society’s director Richard Barons on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at The Clinton Academy Museum.
The “Clothes, Clubs and Contraband” have pieces from 1919 to 1933. The exhibit will feature a 70-year-old contraband bottle, a croquet set, photos and fashion all from the era of the East Hampton speakeasy. Special sections will highlight the Maidstone Park and the Ladies Village Improvement Society Fair.
The exhibition will be on display from Saturday, July 27 to Sunday, October 13, for free but donations are welcome. Saturday display hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday display hours are 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
