Cristie Kerr, 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Champion and 16-Time LPGA Winner, hosted the 9th Annual Hamptons Golf Classic which was attended by New York Jets center Nick Mangold, NBC anchor Jane Hanson, and designer Ian Velardi and honored Hamptons’ own Matthew and Susan Breitenbach. Guests enjoyed 18 holes at the Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club in Westhampton Beach on Monday, June 24, 2013.
This year’s tournament honored Hamptons real estate mother-and-son duo Susan and Matthew Breitenbach, both very active in the Hamptons charity scene. One of the days highlights for Matthew was speaking with Mangold. He noted, “It was a beautiful event, the nicest tournament I think I’ve ever been to. Every hole was lavish.” Breitenbach continued, “To be honored for anything is really special. I’m a big golfer…and I got to golf and give back.”
Following a day of golf, Southampton Hospital President Steven M. Bernstein and CEO Robert S. Chaloner were presented with a $10,000 donation to Southampton Hospital’s Ellen Hermanson Breast Center on behalf of The Diamonds In The Rough Foundation and Kerr’s Birdies for Breast Cancer foundation. Hamptons Golf Classic founder Zev Norotsky said about the day, “What is truly remarkable for me, and both an honor and privilege, is to be able to work with national organizations that pay homage and give back to the local community.”
Mathew Fraas and his team took home top honors winning the overall competition and the much coveted Hamptons Golf Classic trophy while the days longest drive went to Carl Wolfer.
