Hamptons Hotspot Pink Elephant Is Back

“For us the Pink Elephant, and especially the Hamptons, is just meant to be this unharnessed whimsical fun. That’s why were really excited to get back out there, it’s such a great platform with a great demographic of people where we can really shine,” Sarner said. “You know I think it’s partially in the DNA of the Elephant itself. For some reason people love the elephant, it’s like this beloved kinda crazy whimsical figure.”

Inspired by the term “seeing pink elephants” coined by Jack London, referencing when a person would drink and then see pink elephants dancing around in their head, like a delirium or hallucination, Pink Elephant ruled the Hamptons nightlife scene from 2006 to 2010. After a three year hiatus the hotspot is returning with a new East Hampton location with the same dancing, champagne parades, big named DJs, and experience which made it so popular the first time around. I caught up with owner David Sarner about what to expect this summer from Pink Elephant.

PE as it is called by those in the know reopened last year in New York City around Memorial Day weekend and while Pink Elephant wanted to have a presence Hamptons, the timing was amiss. This summer they had the perfect Hamptons opportunity teaming up with Sienna Restaurant & Ultra Lounge by T-Bar who will serve brunch on the weekends and dinner Wednesday through Sunday. During the evening the location transforms into the club giving guests the full experience.

The new location has had nightclub roots since the 70s’ and with Hamptons nightlife recently migrating East towards Montauk, the location in East Hampton felt like a natural fit for Pink Elephant.

If you are wondering what club goers should anticipate at the new Hamptons spot, Sarner says, “We are hoping that we are going to surprise them with a lot of different things so that it’s more than just the usual. Really it will be a reincarnation of what we delivered to the Hamptons from 2006 to 2010.” Throughout the summer expect impromptu performances, choreographed champagne parades, a cocktail program created by bar manager and mixologist, Evan Finkelstein and of course big named DJs.

One of the aspects that makes Pink Elephant unique to other Hamptons clubs is all summer long Fridays are Female DJs Fridays, bringing in a great female talent line up which kicked off with with Bambi over Memorial Day weekend. Sarner notes, “We wanted to create this sexy vibe for Fridays.” Sydney Blu, Tatiana Fontes, and Sky are also scheduled to spin.

Of course summer nightlife in the Hamptons is not complete without champagne and “the bigger, the better” should be Pink Elephant’s motto from what David told us. So get ready for magnum bottles of Cristal and Ace Of Spades.

Pink Elephant will be open Fridays and Saturdays as well as Sundays on holiday weekends but be on the lookout because the beloved elephant will be making surprise appearances at various Hamptons parties and events throughout the summer.

For Hamptons club goers Sarner advises, “It’s the same thing every year, arrive early, dress well. Be prepared to let loose.”
