The Guild Hall 28th Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards was held at The Plaza Hotel in New York City on Monday, March 4, 2013. It was a star studded event with Dan Aykroyd, Matthew Broderick, Chuck Close, Blythe Danner, Fern Mallis and Sarah Jessica Parker attending the ceremony which honored Nathan Lane for Performing Arts, Walter Isaacson for Literary Arts, John Alexander for Visual Arts, and Guild Hall chair Mickey Straus received the Special Award for Leadership and Philanthropy. Marshall Brickman served as Master of Ceremonies at the event which has special guest presenters including Ken Auletta, Alec Baldwin, Jack O’Briend and Lorne Michaels.
The Guild Hall Academy of the Arts honors East End residents who have shown excellence in literary, visual, and performing arts. “Since 1985, Guild Hall has celebrated the artistic endeavors of those in our community whose work and commitment consistently inspires us,” adds Ruth Appelhof, executive director, Guild Hall. “The honorees are elected by over 250 Academy members.”
