Roger Rosenblatt To Discuss Life Lessons During Author’s Talk

Quogue Library and East End Libraries will host author Roger Rosenblatt on Friday, February 19 for a reading from one of his latest books, Cold Moon: On Life, Love, and Responsibility. The author’s talk will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom.

Released in October 2020, Cold Moon encompasses a reflection of Rosenblatt’s 80 years. The memoir has been described as “atonic filled with humor and gratitude.” “Better to know where to go than how to get there,” the veteran essayist and author of fiction and nonfiction stated. “I wander from thought to thought, having learned but three things from my long night’s moon. I believe in life. I believe in love. I believe we are responsible for each other.”

Rosenblatt, an accomplished playwright and a Distinguished Professor of English and Writing at SUNY Stony Brook/Southampton, has penned 20 books, which have been translated into 14 languages. Five of which were named New York Times Notable Books of the Year, and his three memoirs, Kayak Morning, The Boy Detective, and Making Toast, were Times bestsellers.

He earned his Ph.D. at Harvard, where he held the Briggs-Copeland appointment in creative writing. Rosenblatt’s many accolades include an Emmy for his essays at Time magazine and on PBS, a Fulbright to Ireland – where he played for the Irish International Basketball Team during his free time, a Peabody, two George Polk Awards, and seven honorary doctorates. He was also honored with the Kenyon Review Award for Lifetime Literary Achievement and the President’s Medal from the Chautauqua Institution.
