The Commission on Veterans Patriotic Events will be holding the Annual Veterans Day Parade and Service on Thursday, November 11th at 11:00am in Agawam Park, weather permitting. Otherwise, the service will be held in the Southampton Cultural Center.
A short parade will begin at 10:45am from the First Presbyterian Church, located at 2 South Main Street, and proceed down Jobs Lane into Agawam Park.
All Veterans are invited to participate, and cars will be provided for those unable to march. All must arrive in the church parking lot by 10:30am
Southampton Village Police Officer Tiffany Lubold’s dad, Rod Lubold, will be the guest speaker. He is an Iraq War Veteran who served in the United States Army for 23 years as a Combat Pilot, and after retirement served two tours to Afghanistan, as a contracted instructor pilot.
Police Officer Tiffany Lubold, along with 15 police agency representatives, will be recognizing the service of all of America’s Veterans with a special tribute to the thirteen U.S Service members who lost their lives on August, 26th, 2021, just days before the U.S’s planned full withdrawal from Afghanistan. It was one of the deadliest days for American forces in the past decade of the 20-year war in Afghanistan.
Refreshments will be served in the Veteran Memorial hall, following the service.
