The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center celebrated the groundbreaking of a long needed and awaited new building during an invitation only ceremony. The little farmhouse on six-acres, built in 1902, was donated to create the Center after a 1949 fire in a migrant camp tragically killed two children. As the number of children the Center welcomes grows, so does the need for a larger site. Attendees included Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr., Olga Elsehany, County Youth Bureau, Legislator Bridget Fleming, Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman, and Southampton Village Mayor Jesse Warren.
