There's no shortage of festive red, white, and blue filled 4th of July happenings on the East End.
"The daily news out of Washington has never been more riveting, and keeping up with it has never been more challenging," Chip Rae explained.
The bands took a unison break, the music stopped and out walked Paul Simon wearing a Yale baseball hat, with one of his signature Guild folk guitars strapped over his shoulder.
"RISE is very pleased to be able to host this food distribution day with Island Harvest," said JoAnn Vitale, who coordinates the food pantry program, "It will be 'all hands on deck,' handing out food to anyone who comes."
I can still remember as a young boy of five or six when my mom brought home live lobsters to cook and the lobsters escaped from the bag and scrambled out of the kitchen.
"The summer season is the perfect time for any special event, but often times, we forget about pest control services," Brian Kelly noted.
"I learned that it was possible for teens to organize big events like this at Laurel Springs," Flanzer said. " allowed me to meet speakers who made a difference as teenagers, and many kids in Laurel Springs' National Honor Society have successfully started their own organizations to help others."
"Lunch Box Kids is a wonderful program run through our Food Pantry to ease the food budget for local families during the summer months with fresh produce and food," Hilton Crosby noted.
The boats circled and the horns buzzed the sun-kissed sea as the crews joyfully greeted each other's boat as they passed proudly waving and saluting and saying a few inside jokes that made the fishermen twinkle with laughter.
"It's sort of like a running Woodstock," Hackett told us.
