Southampton’s Racquet Lounge is hosting former NY Yankee CC Sabathia and his celebrity friends to a pickleball tournament on Friday, July 5th, 11am-2pm, to benefit the PitCCh In Foundation. Pickleball and celebrities? In Southampton? In July? For a good cause? That’s a home run.
Pickleball has been causing quite the racket around the country in recent years, and especially in the Hamptons, the game’s popularity has exploded. Maybe not as popular as the Yankees, but nothing is. If you’re looking to find out what has made the sport such a smash hit, this event will be a fantastic introduction.
As for the host, he needs a little introduction. CC Sabathia is a New York icon, legendary Yankee, World Series Champion, Cy Young Award Winner…the list goes on. Great athlete and even better human, as shown by an ongoing commitment to the PitCCh In Foundation, a charity he founded in 2010 with his wife to enrich youth self-esteem through athletics and education.
Just looking for people-watching? The past guestlist have been star-studded with sports stars and celebrities. The tournament will see many of Sabathia’s celebrity friends from across sports, entertainment and business compete to benefit the former All Star’s PitCCh In Foundation.
The event will include a brunch, open bar, music and prizes for participants and winners. The PitCCh In Foundation PiCCkleball Tournament is made possible by the generosity of MLB, Fanatics and Diageo (Division of Southern Glazer – NY).
Kicking off following the Fourth of July holiday, the friendly competition will benefit the former All-Star’s PitCCh In Foundation, which we founded with his wife Amber in 2008 to enrich the lives of youth by raising their self-esteem through educational and athletic activities. The Tournament is made possible by the generosity of MLB, Fanatics and Diageo.
