The Brain Tumor Foundation (BTF) is conducting free brain scans as part of the national expansion of the Road to Early Detection campaign. BFT’s Mobile MRI Unit will be in full operation scanning from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting Friday, August 23, through Thursday, August 29, at the Bridgehampton Commons Shopping Mall.
The Road to Early Detection campaign was launched in 2008, offering free brain scans throughout New York City and its neighboring boroughs. With the success of the pilot program, the Foundation plans to expand its offer of free brain scans nationwide.
According to BTF, more than 600,000 Americans will be diagnosed with a brain or central nervous system tumor and 900,000 Americans are currently living with brain tumors which have not been detected yet. The disease does not discriminate and occurs without any distinctions of gender, age, or ethnicity. Through this initiative, hundreds of thousands of people will be screened and numerous lives can be saved.
