The Montauk Chamber of Commerce is celebrating autumn in the Hamptons with the 32nd Annual Fall Festival, which also serves as the major fundraiser for the organization. The festivities will take place “On the Green” in the center of downtown Montauk on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13.
Saturday starts at 11 a.m. with the Famous Clam Chowder contest where over 30 East End restaurants will contribute gallons of their best chowder. Food personality judges will present top honors to the best New England and Manhattan chowders. After the contest catch a performance by The Blue Collar Band who will play from 2 to 5 p.m.
Both days will include family friendly fun like pumpkin decorating, inflatable rides, a carousel, face painting, crab races, and more. The farmers market will also be open both festival days, offering a bounty of seasonal produce and gourmet food items. If you are feeling lucky pick up a few raffles, if not relax and enjoy some of the delicious October-fest style food, clams and oysters or Long Island wines and beer.
The Festival continues on Sunday with an array of activities under the tent including the Annual Auction by the Montauk Playhouse and music by the 3 B’s from 12 to 3 p.m. Montauk Chamber’s annual cash catch drawing will finish the weekend with cash prizes up to $20,000 up for grabs starting at 4:30 p.m.
With funds from events like the Fall Festival, the not-for-profit is able to donate to other charitable organizations like the Montauk Food Pantry and the Frank Cappozola Scholarship Fund and contribute to community events including the July 4th and Fall Fireworks.
