Hamptons Marathon Pledges $30,000 To Southampton Hospital And Project Most

“This gift will enable the hard work of our program to continue and for the children of East Hampton to flourish,” noted Rebecca Morgan Taylor, Project MOST Programming Director about the recent donation from the Hamptons Marathon.

Runners from 35 states and 6 countries competed in the 7th Annual Hamptons Marathon & Half on Saturday, September 28. Named by Runner’s World as one of the “Top 10 New Marathons” in 2008, this year’s race attracted an international crowd of 2,500 runners, the largest yet.

It was also a special year for the team involved with putting together the event. Over the past 7 years, the organization has donated over $350,000 to support local Hamptons groups, and the 2013 race marked the largest donation given. Following the Marathon, over $75,000 was pledged to East End institutions, including $30,000 each to Southampton Hospital and Project Most.

Project Most (www.projectmost.com) serves over 275 students from John M. Marshall Elementary School and Springs Elementary School in East Hampton. They provide children, in grades K through 8th, with academic support, enrichment programs (like art, yoga/movement, karate, swim lessons, and dance lessons), and youth development activities (including leadership training and conflict-management/resolution).

Southampton Hospital (www.southamptonhospital.org) has provided state-of-the-art care to East End residents since 1909.
