“I am thrilled that our Chamber President is Grand Marshal this year! Paul loves our community and demonstrates this through all the things he does for Montauk,” said Executive Director of the Montauk Chamber, Laraine Creegan. “The Friends of Erin could not have made a better selection for this honor in leading the parade.”
Montauk’s 52nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be lead by Paul Monte, the general manager and CEO of Gurney’s Inn Resort & Spa. On Sunday, March 23, Monte who is also President of the Montauk Chamber Of Commerce, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the second largest parade in New York. Before the big day, he will be honored during the Grand Marshal’s Luncheon on Friday, March 21 at Gurney’s Inn (290 Old Montauk Highway, Montauk, 631-668-2345, www.gurneysinn.com). During the tribute from 12 to 3 p.m., the Montauk local will be introduced and roasted, then presented with his Saint Patrick’s Day parade sash, top hat and shillelagh.
Whether you’re Irish or just enjoy the merriment, the Hamptons Village has a few fun events to get you into the green spirit, like the Friends of Erin’s 10th Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner at The Point Bar & Grill (697 Montauk Highway, Montauk, 631-668-1500, www.pointbarandgrill.com) on Saturday March 15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friends of Erin will also host their Gala Cocktail Party, which is one of the main fundraising events for the Parade. The gathering will take place on Saturday, March 22, at Gurney’s, from 4 to 8 p.m. and feature a buffet, open bar and live music.
On the morning of the parade, head to The End hungry, because the Montauk Chamber’s Famous Soup Sale with the parade’s anniversary mugs will go on sale at 10 a.m. The parade, which begins at 11:30 a.m., will run up Edgemere Street, then right on South Edison St and then enters Main Street at the east end of town.
