The Breakwater Yacht Club is preparing for the main event of the Frostbite season, The Ice Breaker Regatta. On Saturday, April 5, the Hamptons Club is hosting the Laser regatta which is open to all challengers.
Boats may be available to borrow on a first come, first served basis. The water temperature of the Sound on Saturday is expected to be close to 38 degrees, so drysuits are highly recommended. Prior to the races, competitors must complete the registration form, which is available by emailing Marty Knab at kankron@hotmail.com.
On the day of the regatta, the Clubhouse will be open around 12 p.m. Competitors should get rigged and make preparations prior to the skippers meeting that begins at 1 p.m. They should also make sure their sails have a number on them, to distinguish each boat from the rest of the fleet. Following the meeting, the races will get underway.
Throughout the afternoon, the Breakwater Yacht Club hopes to have six races. The regatta will culminate with an awards ceremony and after party open to both competitors and spectators.
The Breakwater Yacht Club is located at 51 Bay Street in Sag Harbor. For more information call 631-725-4604 or visitwww.breakwateryc.org.
