The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Committee is holding a host information session for East End families interested in hosting a New York City child for a week this summer. The meeting will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Southampton Inn. Past volunteer hosts will be available to answer any questions and share their past experiences with their host children through the program.
Each summer, the Fresh Air Fund Volunteer Host Family Program is responsible for providing over 4,000 inner-city boys and girls with host families in suburban areas in over thirteen states. However, there is no better place to gift a child a week of the perfect summer experience than the Hamptons. The children range from six to eighteen years old, and children ages six to twelve on first-time visits stay for one to two weeks. Over 65 percent of all Fresh Air Fund children are re-invited to stay the following summer, and they are offered to stay for extended periods of time. Since its inception in 1877, the Fresh Air Fund has provided incredible, free summers to over 1.8 million inner-city New York City children.
