During the 7th Annual Day of Education and Healing for the Ovarian and Breast Connection, the SASS Foundation for Medical Research, Inc. recognized Southampton Hospital’s Coalition for Women’s Cancers (CWC) with the Gerry Trunz Memorial Award.
Hosted at The East Wind Conference Center in Wading River, the event provided support to these suffering and the award was presented in memory of a 50-year-old mother of four who recently lost her battle with ovarian cancer.
“We know that early detection is key to increasing the survival rate in cancers affecting women,” President of the CWC, Susan Barry Roden said. “Being proactive is imperative.”
The CWC provides the East End with higher education opportunities and support systems for women and families suffering from Ovarian and Breast cancers.
SASS Foundation is also dedicated to the cause with their devotion to educating medical personnel, patients and the public on the most advanced and modern procedures and treatments available to cancer patients. The Foundation is known for providing research grants each year to help fight the war against cancer.
