On Saturday, March 7th, the Sag Harbor based not-for-profit is hosting the Fourth Annual Skate-A-Thon and Bake Sale at Buckskill Winter Club. The benefit kicks off with a puck throw from 3:30 to 3:35 p.m., followed by a Figure Skating Recital by Coaches and Participating Kids from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Skate-A-Thon Skaters take the ice from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., and then the ice opens for a public skate from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. The evening caps off with a Hockey Game (pre-registration is required) from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
“Katy was a good friend of Annabel and Harriet DeGroot, and their family kindly puts on the event at Buckskill each year in support of Katy’s Courage and in her memory,” expressed Collins. “We always have a great turn out and it’s a ton of fun for everyone, all for a great cause.”
Katy’s Courage was founded in memory of Katy Stewart, an inspirational 12-year-old who passed away from a rare form of pediatric liver cancer. The organization is dedicated to supporting education, children’s bereavement counseling, and pediatric cancer research.
Registration is $25 per person.
Buckskill Winter Club is located at 178 Buckskill Road in East Hampton. For more information, visit katyscourage.org.
