“It’s always a great event, to see so many former ARFans in attendance, with their owners showing them off with such pride,” noted Jamie Berger, Director of Marketing & Communications at Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF).
On Saturday, May 2nd from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., ARF is holding its Pet Celebration Day and Annual Meeting at the Adoption Center. The East End community is invited to bring their dogs (on leashes) and their cats (in carriers) to meet new friends and reminiscence with old friends as they test out the new ARF agility course, enjoy pet (or human) treats, enter obedience and agility contests, “Ask the Vet” with ARF’s Veterinarian Dr. Sarah Alward and “Ask the Behaviorist” with Dr. Barbara Pezzinate. The free event will include the chance to have your animal microchipped, which is the quickest and most efficient way to reunite a lost pet with its owner. Rabies vaccines will also be available, and cats and dogs must be spayed/neutered to receive both free services.
Sandy Rapp will entertain attendees as her melodic voice meshes with chords from her guitar. Guests can get a jolt of caffeine from coffee donated by Hampton Coffee Company or try freshly made donuts at the Dreesen’s Donut Truck, who will be making the delicious treats on site. Four-legged friends can stop by the Freshpet treat station for free samples of real food made from fresh ingredients. Attendees who are feeling lucky should enter the raffle for a chance to win a dog obedience lesson with ARF trainer Matthew Posnick or a framed print by noted East End artist Carol Saxe.

The morning will celebrate East Hampton resident Randy Wallace, who will receive the Friend of Animals Award. Wallace volunteers at the ARF reception desk on Wednesdays and Saturdays, two of their busiest days and has perfected greeting potential adopters. ARF will also hold a brief annual meeting with the election of their new board member, Alex Papachristidis.
