“We encourage New Yorkers across the state to come down and visit their local volunteer fire departments on April 25th and 26th,” said Robert McConville, President of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY). “At the firehouse, they can learn all about becoming a member of a very special family – the volunteer fire service.”
RecruitNY is holding several recruitment open houses throughout Long Island on Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th. The public events are part of a New York statewide campaign to boost the number of volunteer firefighter.
To kickoff the initiative, Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) President Robert McConville, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone, and Long Island fire departments and fire officials will ring the bell for new recruits during a news conference on Thursday, April 23rd at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum & Education Center in Garden City.
