On Saturday, August 15th, join the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue for the annual “Red Devil” swim at Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett. Swimmers can choose from a 5K course, 1-mile course or 1/2 mile course.
Along with the benefit swim, the evening will include a BBQ, bonfire, beach games, music, beer from Montauk Brewing Co., and a 50/50 raffle.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Amagansett Life Saving Station.
The East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squads are made up of volunteer Suffolk County Certified Ocean Lifeguards, who respond to 911 dispatched emergencies year-round on the East End. The organization, which traces its roots back to the Dory Rescue Squad (a group of dory boat fishermen who used their unique professional skills to save lives in the waters around East Hampton), promote water safety in the pool and open water environments, as well as support charitable community events and organizations.
The entry fee is $75 for the 5K, $50 for the 1-mile, and $35 for the 1/2 mile. The 5K begins at 5 p.m., followed by the 1-mile at 5:30 p.m. and the 1/2 mile at 6 p.m.
